Basically, looking at the leading brands like Samsung, HTC, LG one should expect that these mobile phone makers should easily beat Apple but thats not the case. From IDC smartphone market share, Samsung and every other big name in the android world is going down, but looking at the IDC smartphone OS market share, android keeps growing, then what's really happening?
From the charts, Samsung has always been the leading brand up until the fourth quarter of 2014 when Apple and Samsung recorded equal sales, from the report from IDC, Samsung had managed to remain at the top because of their low end cheaper phones. Why is that so?
The reason is the iPhone has what every other brand in the android world do not have - they are unique, whereas Samsung as well as every other prominent phone maker will have to deal with cheaper brands that produce premium phones at cheaper rates such as Huawei, One Plus and Xiaomi. People tend to buy these phones as they are budget friendly, once these phones are available worldwide, the decline would be worse.
The solution is probably to provide something unique and different from every other brand. Probably an OS of their own. It would not be easy at first as Android and iOS rule the market, but it will future proof them.
